PLEASANTVILLE MUSIC FESTIVAL’S 2023 “BATTLE OF THE BANDS” WINNERS ANNOUNCED

May 17, 2023, Pleasantville, NY— Three young, local musical acts have been named as winners in The Garage at Lucy’s sponsored “Battle of the Bands” competition, held over the past two weekends. Sixteen finalists participated in the battle, each playing their original music in front of a panel of music industry professionals at The Garage at Lucy’s in Pleasantville.

“We really look forward to sharing these groups with our audience on July 8”, said PMF Director Bruce Figler. “There was a lot of competition between these talented young artists which made the judge’s decisions really difficult.”

Winners of the 2023 PMF Battle of the Bands:

  • Opening the The Chill Tent Stage at Noon will be talented singer-songwriter Ursula Hansberry. She’s a Dobbs Ferry native, who’s become known throughout the area, having performed in recent years at the Tarrytown Music Hall, Rockwood and Darryl’s House.
  • Opening up the Party Stage at Noon will be Hunter Road. They are a hard rocking, blues-driven, 4-piece outfit from central Westchester. All four band members are graduates of either Westlake of Valhalla H.S.
  • Opening up the Main Stage at 12:30pm will be Summer Fling. They are an exciting and fun band with roots in Larchmont. This band fuses funk, rock and pop into an infectious combination of joyful music.

The judges were Alex Cano; talented working musician who played the 2019 festival, Steve Dalmer; record company executive and artist manager for Ani DiFranco and others, and Elisa Zuckerberg; writer, and founder of Hear It There, a web-based resource for musicians and venues.

Now in its 17th year, the Pleasantville Music Festival, presented by Northwell Health, is known as New York’s Backyard Jam. It’s become a must-attend summer event for the whole family, with great local food and drink, a warm positive vibe, and of course, world-class rock. Tickets to the Pleasantville Music Festival are available through Ticketweb and the Festival Box Office located in the Pleasantville Rec Center.  More information about the event and links to the performers can be found at www.pleasantvillemusicfestival.com
