The idea of the Pleasantville Community Garden was conceived by 7th grader, Devin Juros in 2012 at the age of 12. The PCG provides fresh produce to the hungry and food insecure people of Westchester County - through the Hillside Food Pantry and was built in June 2014 and is managed by volunteers from the area. We maintain a 600 square foot garden on the grounds of St. John's Church in Pleasantville, NY and have donated over 1500 pounds of fresh vegetables to the food pantry in 2014!

Spending the bulk of her time isolated in her studio while she paints, her dream was to have a place where other artists would come together and talk about art....stimulating discussion being an incentive to creation. In her interview program she connects with other artists, albeit, usually one at a time. Interviewed artists tell the stories of how they create, how they got to where they are in their artwork, their work is shown on screen, and the viewing audience acquires knowledge about art in the surrounding area.

The Pleasantville Garden Club produces television programs to increase the community's knowledge and enjoyment of horticulture. Club members also value the importance of protecting our environment. Our programs feature experts in horticulture, gardening outdoors and indoors, flower arranging, and environmental issues by speakers who are well known gardeners including authors of gardening books. Meetings are held the first Thursday morning of each month from October to June. Members include residents of Pleasantville, Thornwood, Hawthorne, and Valhalla.
