Our Funding Model
Village funding
The majority of our funding is provided through a contract with the Village of Pleasantville. The main purpose of this arrangement is to film and broadcast government Board of Trustee meetings as well as provide coverage of the numerous Village events that take place throughout the year including such favorites as the Pleasantville Music Festival, Pleasantville Day, Firemans’ Parade and Memorial Day Parade. Village residents can access past board meetings and events in our archived videos. Additionally, PCTV hosts a show that provides periodic and relevant updates of current information in the Village through interviews with the Mayor.
Other Sources of Revenue
Since 1995, PCTV has managed public, governmental and educational access channels. Services provided include the direction, scheduling, filming, lighting, live switching, audio, post production, set design and training. To date, PCTV has created over 4,000 public access shows and has broadcast and/or produced nearly 1,000 government meetings and functions. In the past, a significant portion of our funding came through cable companies in support of our franchise. Today, the cable franchise companies have set our community support efforts upside down. Funding has been cut dramatically, and we must fend for ourselves more than ever. We are doing so with the support of a dedicated Board and the enthusiasm of our community members in several ways. Our Annual Donor Appeal each fall continues to be a major source of support for our operations. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have been able to continue programs while adding new ones each year. Another source of revenue is our Sponsorship program, which grows each year from the support of local businesses. See the “sponsors” tab for additional information about this program. Recognizing members of the community is a way PCTV strives to emphasize the vitality and contribution of community leaders. Our annual “Making a Difference” Gala Fundraiser provides a venue for our community to come together to recognize an honoree and to share the pride and passion of the entire community.
